About me

My name is Emily, and the Human & Horse Connection Mastery Handbook started in my own barn.

When I bought my first horse, I did everything I was told to do. The lessons, the videos, the trainers, the books. I learned to ride him well. But every evening, when I walked to the gate, he walked the other way. I knew how to ride him. I had no idea how to read him.

So I started writing down what I saw. Which ear moved a second before he tensed. What his eye did when he softened. What I was doing with my hands, my breath and my distance without ever noticing. I drew the signals I kept missing, one per page, with what they meant and what I could do about them.

Slowly the notes turned into pages, the pages into illustrations, and the horse who walked away became the horse who waits for me at the gate.

Other riders at the barn asked for copies. They all said the same thing: nobody had ever shown them the signals one at a time, with a picture and a clear answer for each. With the help of riders and trainers I trust, the notes were refined, illustrated properly, and organised into four parts: see, understand, respond, connect.

What started as one rider's notes is now the Human & Horse Connection Mastery Handbook: 300+ illustrated pages built for every rider who wants more than obedience.

I've been in your shoes

Building a bond with a horse isn't always easy.

It can feel discouraging, especially when you're balancing work, family and the barn, and the little time you have with him never seems to move things forward. Many riders feel unsure about what to look for, or wonder whether the problem is the horse, the trainer, or themselves.

I remember standing in the paddock thinking: "Why does he walk to her and not to me?"
"Do I really need another method?"

If you've felt this way, you're not alone.

Almost every rider has been there at some point. The difference is having a way to read him, so you know what he's telling you and how to answer.

That's exactly why the Human & Horse Connection Mastery Handbook exists: to make the bond clearer, quieter, and less frustrating for both of you.

The Bond Is Worth the Patience

Earning a horse's trust is a real achievement.

It takes patience, consistency and the will to show up again tomorrow. But it also opens the door to something few riders ever get: a horse who chooses you, in the paddock, at the gate, in the saddle.

Looking back, the process taught me to listen before I asked, to slow down, and to value ten quiet minutes over an hour of pressure.

If you're working on that bond right now, remember this: every quiet minute you spend reading him brings you closer.

You're not just training a horse, you're building a partnership.

And if the Human & Horse Connection Mastery Handbook can make that journey a little easier, then it has done its job.

"I finally get why he kept walking away"

I have had my mare for 3 years and honestly it always felt like there was a wall between us. I got to the second chapter and it was like, oh. The ear thing, the weight shift, the tight muzzle. She has been telling me stuff every single day and I just didn't see it. Wish I had this three years ago.

"Practical, not preachy"

I almost didn't buy it because I expected the usual natural horsemanship stuff repackaged. Maybe a third of it I already knew, but it is explained better than anywhere I have seen, and the response protocols were genuinely new to me. 22 years riding and I still took notes. Good buy.

"I stopped correcting him and started answering him"

The biggest change was me, not the horse. I used to take every ears back as attitude. Now I look at the whole picture first and I respond instead of reacting. My gelding is calmer because I am calmer, it is that simple.

"The decoder is on my tack room door now"

I printed it the first night. Ears, eyes, head, tail, posture, thirty seconds and I know what to do. Two people at my barn have already taken photos of it lol.

"He comes to the gate now"

Rescue horse, head shy, would not be caught. I did the trust protocol for two weeks, ten minutes a day, no rope. Yesterday he walked up to the gate on his own and put his forehead on my chest. I cried in the field. Still not over it.

"Beautiful and I actually use it"

The illustrations are the kind you would frame but the situation pages are what I use the most. He nudges, he freezes, he yawns during groundwork, one page each with what it means and what to do. I printed it and had it spiral bound and it is the most used thing in my barn.
